I held off buying an mp3 player in part because I wanted to take the time to research alternatives to the iPod.

Online vendors like Audible.com have lots of unabridged titles and the beauty of these is you can "read" while doing other things. I've been staining parts of my house while listening to Robert Baer's Sleeping with the Devil . I also download podcasts from Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager, Dennis Miller and the Car Talk clowns.

Lugging around a ton of music isn't bad either.
